Today is the first day of school and Emily is oficially a Second Grader now! We had a wonderful morning and Em was so excited to get to school and see her friends and start a new year!
We bought a bike trailer to make it easier to get to and from school since the school is in our neighborhood and there are no buses (all of the kids at the school live in the neighborhood and are in walking distance). This makes for quite a mess with cars and parents driving kids to and from school, and since we don't have the golf cart anymore, we decided this would be the way to go. The kids love it and I know that I'll benefit from riding a bike four miles a day... hopefully! When it cools down, Em will ride her own bike, which will be so much fun for her since she loves to ride to school! Luckily it's not crazy hot this morning and we have a bit of cloud cover to shield us from the sun.
We have several beginning of the year traditions... on of them being going to McDonalds for ice cream after the first day of school, and we plan to hold to it today... I love that we have a "plan" for the first day, and it really cuts down on the stress and the hectic-ness that sometimes happens.
Oh, and I didn't shed a tear... seriously!
Happy Monday!
